Question: Where do I find the serial number for Term-PAK?
Answer: There are several methods that can be used to determine your Term-PAK serial number.
- It can be found on the bottom of the box. (The serial number begins with the letters PAK-.)
- While running Term-PAK, you can select About from the pull-down menu.
- If you have a Term-PAK manual, you can find it on the inside of the front cover.
- You can obtain the serial number from the Term-PAK key disk (Disk #1).
Important: If you are requesting a reset code, you must use method 4 to determine your serial number.
The following procedure will allow you to obtain your serial number from the Term-PAK key disk.
- Select the Windows Start button.
- Select Programs.
- Select MS-DOS Prompt or Command Prompt from the list of menu items.
- You should see a DOS window on the screen. Press the Alt and Enter keys at the
same time to switch to full screen mode. (If the DOS session came up in full
screen mode, you do not need to perform this step.)
- Insert your Term-PAK disk #1 into drive A.
- Log on to drive A by typing A: and then press Enter. You should see the A:\ prompt.
- Type Evmove /R and then press Enter. Note the space between Evmove and
/R.
- The program will display the serial number along with the number of
times the master disk has been reset (ie: 12345-0). When requesting a reset code, please
send technical support the entire number.
- Press ESC to cancel the reset procedure. Note: If the user try's to
"hack" the disk by entering random reset codes, the diskette will
shut down after 10 consecutive invalid attempts. After this happens, there
is nothing we can do over the telephone to make the disk work again. The
customer will need to send the disk in for repair. (Service charge
applies.)
