Instructions for Entering Competitor Names and Submitting Results

Computer Configuration

The Term-LAB software will only work properly when your computer’s Regional Settings are set to USA. When numbers are entered, Term-LAB must use the decimal point “.” and not the “,”. For example, when manually entering an SPL, you must enter 145.6 and NOT 145,6. Term-LAB does not understand the comma “,” in numbers.

Competitor Name Entry

Competitor names are used to track competitors on the dB Drag Racing website. Therefore, it is critical that competitor names be entered accurately. Otherwise, a competitor’s Stats could end up under more than one competitor name on the website. Always ask a competitor for their Competition Name. This is the name on their dB Drag Racing membership card (if they are a member) or the name that they use when competing in dB Drag Racing. Pay particular attention to spelling as the website cannot differentiate between 2 names that are spelled differently.

Every competitor must have a first and last name. Please enter the competitor’s first name into the First Name field and the competitor’s last name into the Last Name field. For example, if the competitor’s name is Wayne Harris, you would enter Wayne into the First Name field and Harris into the Last Name field.

Do not enter any other type of data into the First Name or Last Name fields. For example, do not enter competitor numbers, pit stalls, or vehicle information into the Name fields. The ONLY information that should be entered into the Name fields is the competitor’s name. If you need to use additional information, please use the User 1 or User 2 fields. (You can enable these fields in the Scorekeeping Options section of Term-LAB.)

Competitors may not use only 1 name. For example, you may not enter a single name of Wayne as the competitor name. Every competitor must have a first and last name.

If a competitor has 3 or more names, enter the first name into the First Name field and the remaining names into the Last Name field. For example, if the competitor’s name is Jimmie Wayne Harris, you would enter Jimmie into the First Name field and Wayne Harris into the Last Name field.

If the competitor’s name is a team name, the following procedure should be used. Assume the competitor’s name is “Team dBDRAG - Wayne”. You would enter Team into the First Name field and dBDRAG – Wayne into the Last Name field. Please note the spaces and hyphen character “-“ that separates dBDRAG and Wayne.

If you are going to reverse the First and Last name fields, please do it for EVERY name entered. For example, if you enter Harris into the First Name field and Wayne into the Last Name field, you must be consistent and do the same for every entry. Remember, for competitors who are using a team name, Team is considered to be the competitor’s first name.

Do NOT use any non-US special characters.

Creating an Archive File

At the conclusion of each event, you should immediately create an Archived Data file for the event. The dBDRA requires this file in order to enter the results onto the website. Use the following procedure to create an Archive Data file.

  1. Run Term-LAB.
  2. Select dB Drag Racing Mode.
  3. Click on the Scorekeeping Options button in the lower right-hand side of the screen.
  4. Click on the Create Archive button. Fill out the form completely. Please spell out the event date. For example, type “May 1, 2004” instead of “05/01/04”. Also, please include the country in the location field. Please make a note of the file name you used when creating the archive. You will need to know this file name when submitting results to the dBDRA. For example, if you enter SBN as the file name when creating the archive, the file name you will attach to your email when submitting results to the dBDRA will be SBN.dat. (The dat suffix is appended to the file name automatically.)
  5. Click on the Save button to create and save the Archive Data file.

Send the Archive File to the dBDRA

You must email a copy of the Archive Data file to the dBDRA so that we may post the results of your show on the web. Please note that the Archived Data file is NOT the winners.txt file.

  1. Send an email to wharris@termpro.com.
  2. Attach a copy of the Archive Data file. The file can be found in the C:\Program Files\Term-LAB\dbdrag\archives folder on your computer.
