The Term-LAB USB system is a precision measurement instrument that utilizes a combination of hardware and software technology to measure the sound intensity inside of a vehicle. (Term-LAB requires a PC or laptop for operation.)

Term-LAB is based on award winning innovative technology that changes the way sound is measured inside a car. The heart of the system is the Precision SPL Sensor that attaches to the inside of the windshield with two suction cups. This attachment method alleviates the need for bulky microphone stands. In addition, the Precision SPL Sensor is based on Sensor Technology instead of the antiquated microphone capsules that have been used in the past. SPL Mode

At the most fundemental level, Term-LAB can function as an SPL Meter.

  • Real-Time SPL Readouts - In this mode the meter will continuously display the current SPL.
  • Peak Hold Mode with Auto Reset - In this mode, the meter will display the peak SPL. Then, after a time period determined by the user, the meter will automatically reset and begin the process all over again.
  • Running Average - In this mode, the meter will display a running average for a user-specified number of SPL measurements.

Term-LAB Mode Selector

These organizations have selected Term-LAB because of it's incredible consistency and the powerful features it offers. For example, Term-LAB includes integrated scorekeeping for each soundoff organization. The program also permits the judge to switch between the various organizations at any time by simply clicking on the appropriate mode button. (Scoring information for each organization remains independent of the others.)

At the end of the event, Term-LAB will print a list of winners for each class. In addition, the user can print Certificates of Achievement with the optional Event Promoter Pro upgrade. The results can also be archived for future reference or submission to the supported soundoff organizations.

Just think, there would be no manual writing down of scores... instant leaderboards... Tim could hook the phat plasma up to the computer and have instant score feedback... and the key here is... C O N S I S T E N C Y. I honestly do not think that there is a single competitor out there who is going to disagree that this is the way of the future, and the future of all SPL sanctioning bodies. It will speed up Finals judging, allow more time for judges to check vehicles, and *gasp* eliminate all mic issues. 100% of them. That's how confident I am in this new metering system.

I bought a Term-LAB USB setup at finals. I got it in today. I have been playing with it, of course. Everything you hear about it is true. I really like this meter a lot. Numbers are lower than AudioControl but we all knew that anyway. I love the level of acuracy and consistency.
