For Immediate Release
2/1/1997

CES Mobile Electronics 97 show management is promising an exciting show by adding new contests, educational programs, and special events for retailers and installers alike. This years show will be held from April 4-6, 1997 in the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, GA.

For members of the trade, weve added an invitational sound-off competition, an exhibitor installation contest, and three additional educational programs to round out our already jam-packed conference plan, states Karen Chupka, CES Mobile Electronics show director. We also are pleased to announce a dB Drag Race and expo for auto sound enthusiasts, sponsored by CAR SOUND and AutoMedia magazines, to be held on the final day of the show.

Beyond the three technology sessions and four retail management sessions, sponsored by Mobile Retailer, three other educational events have been added. On Saturday, April 5th, two free seminars to teach dealers how to run promotional events have been included in the general conference program - Increasing Your Store Traffic Through dB Drag Racing, conducted by Wayne Harris of Rockford Corp., and How to Run an IASCA Sanctioned Car Sound-Off, sponsored by IASCA and presented by Terry Miller of Audio Sports and Mike Jaffe of IASCA. On Thursday, April 3, before the show floor opens, AutoMedia and CARSOUND Magazines will sponsor a one-day AutoSound 2000 seminar program, highlighting the latest in auto sound technology and taught by Richard Clark and David Navone. Cost for the one-day seminar is $149 per person.

Other special events include a cash-prize, invitation sound-off that will be held throughout the three days of the show. The competition will be limited (on a first come, first serve basis) to 24 cars and the first place winner will receive $5000 out of a total purse of $10,000 for the top five winners.

AutoMedia is set to hold its own Second Annual Manufacturer Car Show-Off Contest throughout the show. On the last day of the show, a dB drag race and expo will be held in the parking lot of the Georgia World Congress Center. Both events will be open to both consumers and the trade. A total cash purse of $10,000 will be given away to race competitors. Retailers will be given the opportunity to sell products directly from the expo and can each give away 10 guest tickets to consumers for entry into the main show floor within the Congress Center between 2 PM and 5 PM on Sunday, April 6. Both the race and the expo are sponsored by CARSOUND and AutoMedia magazines. The consumer cost to attend the expo is $5 per person.
