XM To Sponsor 2001 World Finals

Post Falls, Idaho – July 25, 2001 - The dB Drag Racing Association, a leading auto sound competition sanctioning organization, today announced that XM Satellite Radio (Nasdaq: XMSR), a leading provider of Satellite Radio programming for the car, will be the presenting sponsor for the 2001 dB Drag Racing World Finals in Nashville, TN on October 6-7, 2001.

dB Drag Racing is a sport where auto sound enthusiasts compete against one another to determine who has the loudest car stereo system. According to Wayne Harris, president and founder of the dBDRA, the World Finals is the culmination of the sound-off competition season, and is a time for competitors, retailers, and manufacturers alike to celebrate the hard work and dedication required to achieve this prestigious level of competition.

The dBDRA was founded in 1998. Since then, there have been more than 3,200 dB Drag Racing events in 43 countries around the world. “We are experiencing tremendous growth.” said Harris. “To maintain our momentum, it is imperative that we form relationships with companies that will help to shape the future of auto sound. XM Satellite Radio is definitely poised to take on a leadership role in this endeavor.” Harris continued.

XM Satellite Radio Inc. is a publicly traded company headquartered in Washington, DC. The company is one of two FCC licensees to deliver satellite radio programming. Starting this summer, XM will inaugurate its coast-to-coast, digital-quality service with 100 channels of music, news, talk, sports, comedy and childrens programming. The service is targeted to the nations 200 million plus automobile and truck drivers as well as home radio users.

XM Satellite Radio will be launching their subscription service in late August for selected markets. “We are very excited about launching the world’s first digital satellite service for the car.” said Tom Roddam, XM Satellite Radio’s Director of Retail Sales. “By sponsoring the dB Drag Racing World Finals, we hope to expose our service to a large contingent of auto sound enthusiasts and retailers.”
